June 2 auction scheduled for Haworth factory equipment and fixtures

HIGH POINT – Online auction resource OrbitBid.com is holding a sale of machinery and equipment at the former Haworth furniture and office seating factory at 1673 English Road.

A public presentation of the goods sold takes place on June 1 and the actual auction takes place on June 2. To participate and see what’s up for auction, click here.

There’s a slew of equipment and machines being sold, with most deals starting around $10 and increasing in $5 increments from there.

The auction aims to empty the building, which is sold to Terry Seitz of Woodbrook Designs. He plans to use about 40,000 square feet as a warehouse and distribution center and plans to lease the remaining 90,000 square feet. For more details on this story, click here.

My name is Tom Russell and I have been with Furniture/Today since August 2003. Since then I have covered the international side of the business from a logistics and sourcing perspective. Since then, I have also visited several furniture trade shows and manufacturing plants in Asia, which has helped me better understand the industry in this part of the world. As I continue to cover the import side of the business, I look forward to growing this knowledge base through conversations with industry officials and future overseas factory visits. From time to time, I will post news and other industry views online and, as always, welcome your responses to these web posts.
