Launch of the new AVEVA product for the design of AVEVA Everything3D installations

AVEVA today launched AVEVA Everything3D (E3D) at the AVEVA World Summit in Paris. AVEVA E3D will bring together technologies to provide a new vision for customers to adopt “Lean” work practices spanning engineering, design and construction. This will speed up the overall execution of the project and reduce wastage. As part of AVEVA’s integrated engineering and design approach, AVEVA E3D brings significant innovations to dramatically improve new plant design and lifecycle modification projects. The integration of laser scan data and 3D geometry is at the heart of this; powerful drawing tools and intuitive user interfaces for common design tasks.

“The market for factory design solutions is evolving and requires a new vision,” said Dave wheeldon, CTO and Head of Engineering Design Systems, AVEVA. “It is no longer enough to achieve error-free designs. The availability of new affordable technologies allows the scope of factory design to be broadened to include other stakeholders – suppliers, manufacturers and construction crews.

“A key to unlocking the cost savings offered by adopting a ‘Lean’ philosophy lies in the ability of teams away from the design office to communicate condition and construction information as and when the progress of construction. “

“Our customers are facing many new challenges”, adds Bruce douglas, SVP Strategy and Marketing, AVEVA. “The pressure to extract more energy and mineral resources translates into larger and more technically complex projects. An aging population of engineers in mature markets and an abundance of inexperience in emerging markets make factory design software easy to use, quick to train, and faster turnaround time.

“Additionally, the emergence of mobile and cloud computing from the consumer market to the enterprise market allows remote workers, especially those on the job site, to feed back critical as-built information back to the design team. via status updates and laser scan data. This allows for quick and cost effective corrective actions to ensure maximum build quality while protecting the project schedule. “

AVEVA E3D will include:

  • A factory design system that is integrated with engineering and schematic disciplines
  • A “real world” representational quality 3D modeling capability, combining the best 3D graphics and laser scanning point clouds.
  • Fully automated 2D drawing capability integrated into the 3D model
  • Full interoperability with other design systems used in the design process
  • An architecture that can support project reuse and modular design with extension to support integration with cloud / mobile infrastructure.
  • The ability to operate in parallel with the current class leader: AVEVA PDMS

AVEVA E3D will be commercially available from mid-December 2012.
